Shengchun Huang is an Assistant Professor at the School of Journalism and Media and the Knight Faculty Fellow affiliated with the Center for Media Engagement at Moody College of Communication, UT Austin. Check the recent news about Dr. Huang.
Dr. Huang's research examines how AI and algorithms shape news production, dissemination, and consumption in digital media environments, as well as their societal and civic consequences. Specifically, Dr. Huang is pursuing three lines of inquiry:
How do algorithmic curation systems shape online news exposure and engagement?
How does the public perceive algorithmically curated media environments?
How do algorithmic systems reshape journalistic practices, norms, and interorganizational relations?
To answer these questions, Dr. Huang employs computational, quantitative, and qualitative social science approaches. Check Dr. Huang's research here.

Dr. Huang received her PhD from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Annenberg, she obtained an M.A. in Journalism and Communication from Tsinghua University and a B.A. in Communication from Renmin University of China. She had previously engaged in various journalistic practices before embarking on her academic career.
